I traveled to Hyde Park, NY, this weekend to pick up my ganddaughter Marissa from a 9-day program at the Eleanor Roosevelt estate Val-Kill. The program is called Eleanor Roosevelt Girls’ Leadership and it’s in its 11th year. For 15- and 16-yea old girls, it provides a rich learning envionment for 30 girls from around the US and world. It’s focused on leadership from the perspective of “change the world.” The young women visited the United Nations and UNICEF and each had a job shadowing opportunity in NYC. They had workshops with exceptional professional women and community leaders, great speakers, and lots of small-group sharing and exploration. They are a tremendously diverse group and now have lifetime friends around the world. Keep this summer program in mind for your daughters and granddaughters!
