“Women Taking Action”

The Women’s Business Conference in St. Louis was a great success and gives pause to the concept of “recession.”

Ellen Sherberg, Publisher of conference sponsor/organizer the St. Louis Business Journal,  has got to be feeling the pinch as publisher of a print newspaper.  But you wouldn’t guess it from the commitment the journal made to its fourth annual Women’s Conference or from Ellen’s inspiring presence and remarks.

And you wouldn’t think “recession” from the parade of sponsors of this conference–big corporations (AT&T, MasterCard, Monsanto), local colleges and universities, led by Washington University in St. Louis, and a host of others.

And you definitely wouldn’t think “recession” from the almost 900 women business leaders, owners, and key employees who paid to attend.

There was great sales activity at the booths, selling everything from marketing services and corporate travel to consignment clothes and designer jewelry.

An inspiring reminder that we need more than ever to invest in our learning, networks, and inspiration.
