A couple weeks ago The New York Times reported “Women Are Now Equal As Victims of Poor Economy.” The gist is that women in business are suffering lay-offs, reduction in earnings, and inability to find a new job at a comparable rate of pay, just as men have suffered in the past. That’s not the kind of equality we had in mind!
Two specific solutions come to mind. One is turning to higher education–investing in a degree that will position her for a better job with higher salary and better benefits. The other is founding a small business–especially to position as a woman-owned business–the growth opportunity is unlimited and there are paid-for government and nonprofit resources to help women learn to be successful entrepreneurs.
